Metalfest - DAY 2!

Metalfest - DAY 2!

Day 2:

Frozen Crown, Elvenking, Dynazty, Lord of The Lost, Amaranthe, Alestorm, Kreator

After a late wake up alarm and trying to make sense to what had happened the eventful previous night, I got a bit late and unfortunately, I missed Frozen Crown and Elvenking.

Dynazty:

Their set was vibrant and Nils was at his peak energy as the double duty date was upon him, their show was also a showcase of their new record Game of Faces recently released and highly praised. It was a pleasant show as it was the last set, we would have sun for a bit.

Lord of the Lost:

After deciding to check them out, a bit close this time. Their show quicky turned into a diluvial experience as the skies wide opened and the general black dressing crowd turned into a color symphony of rain coats which made of their set a singularity of this festival.

As my companion pointed out at the beginning of the show ‘the energy was calm’ but as the show progressed a few braved the elements and sang and headbang nonstop even sacrificing the dryness of their clothes

But raining pouring weather was not a deterrent for Chris Harms and his crew who braved the elements and was all over the place, even he got on top of the barrier for a minute as rain was pouring nonstop, and amazing yet wet show.

Amaranthe:

Swedish metallers Amaranthe showed up to an already wet Metalfest crowd that was trying to clean their raincoats and getting ready for round two. Still riding the wave of their latest album The Catalyst, their show was a well measured balance between the new songs and fan favorites, once again we rained on, but that didn’t stop the crowd to sing and headbang along their tunes. An amazing set, but a wet one as well.

Alestorm:

Their shows have the capability to turn into a huge beach party from the beginning, while still trying to hanging on their pagan-metal past, the Alestorm has shifted to something different, not because the light green of their stage props, or the gigantic inflatable ducks that easily can take 30 % of the stage alone or their stage clothes that don’t resemble their piracy past. Their music is now a mix of fun songs, sing along opus and just a whole party vibe that you will see at the barrier as a whole part of it becomes a full spectacle of people seating in the floor while rowing an invisible raft.

Kreator:

Mille Petrozza and company returned to Metalfest after a few years of absence, and once again their stage set was amazing. I must say that Kreator has turned the use of stage to tell their own story on a different way as they have abandoned the typical background drop to fill their stage with demon statues and walking demons carrying fire torches.

Their show was loud, visually pleasant and flawless as they moved thru many of the band’s eras and that was palpable by the reaction of people from many age groups that were singing and headbanging along the thrashy riffs by the one of the Teutonic Four.
