Interview with the band Gebretter
At the end of January 2026, the second album by the German band Gebretter, called Pint Peddla, was released on LP. We will discuss what makes the band interesting, at least I think so.
Alan – Hello, guys. Could you introduce yourselves to us + tell us who plays what in the band and when the band was formed?
Ben -
Chrissie plays the guitar
Bine plays the guitar
Max plays the drums
Alex plays the bass
And me Ben i sing and sometimes use a sampler The band was formed in July 2022, but it took until autumn that year to finally be a fully functioning band, oh and then we had to find a name…..
Alan – You have been on the scene for a relatively short time, but you are making a very good name for yourself. How did you manage to do that?
Ben - We all have experience in playing in Bands and so we had connections and were eager to practice, record and play. Playing is what we all would like to do more, but all of us have a lot of other stuff on our plates, so we have mainly been practicing and were able to record two albums. It feels like the 2nd Album is getting a lot more attraction, and that is due to Dennis from Scene Police. He has brought out the 2nd album with 2 other Labels Engineer Records and Dãmon Tonträger.
Alan – Who did you release your second album with? And how did you meet David? (Engineer records)
Ben - The 2nd album we had already recorded, when Dennis asked us who was going to release and we thought of D.I.Y again, like the first album, but Dennis was not having it and asked us if he could bring it out. Dennis is a good mate of Davids, so they got chatting pretty quickly and decided to collaborate. That was great for us, as we now have records in England, too. Especially as my mum is from Liverpool, that makes me really happy.
Alan – You also use showmanship when playing, you create comedy, and a light form of theater is also part of playing. Maybe our readers are interested in it too; I certainly am.
Ben - Well first of all, I love to dress up on stage, and now have found my outfit, a pastor wearing a clerical collar shirt and a South African Police hat. Both things we obviously don’t like, but it is great to play with and a kind of protest/critique. We like to laugh a lot, also on stage, which makes it a joyful gig, but always with the sad truth in our eyes and texts. It is clear that we are pissed off with so much misfortune and injustice in the world, but still need to laugh to survive. Also Bine loves decorating, so when there is time and space she likes to decorate the stage. Kill them with kindness and kind noise.
Alan – Speaking of showmanship. Do you have any funny experiences from touring?
Ben - Our tours are generally funny, but i guess our last trip to Switzerland was top of the pops. We played in The Box in Davos and about 50 ice hockey supporters celebrated their 20th birthday as La Cricca. We played the gig and then joined the fan walk to the stadium and after the game we tried ;) :) ;) to play another gig, who knows maybe we did….That was big fun FORZA AMBRI.
Alan – Apart from Germany, have you played anywhere else in Europe? In England? Since you are releasing on Engineer Records?
Ben - Sadly not in England yet, but hoping to soon. Especially through David, Dennis and I also have some connections in London and up north. We would like to play as often as possible and in other countries, hopefully soon.
Alan – the work that you are doing. Are there any roots in other bands that you draw from? Doom?
Ben - Wow! I, well we love Doom, other Bands would be Poison Idea, Sheer Terror, generally the NYHC scene and well just too many to name and we all like a lot of other genres. We are very open to nearly all music.

Alan – Can we break down the songs? Write briefly what each one is about and discuss the music.
3. Grades - A stomper with Rock n Roll attitude, a song about hurting yourself, but getting back up and living life with more strength. The ref Schürfwundensurfverein could be translated to AbraisonSurfandTurfAssosiation haha
Chat G.B.H. - The fear of the Robots taking over our mind. Full blast/grind smasher.
Deutsche Panzer - Fuck War. Germany is one of the leading tank builders world wide! Fuck that. 1.2.3.4. hit it with a very fast HC beat.
Goodbye - A slower song about dying and mourning.
Hecke - This beat feels like you are riding a horse, a spliff in your hand and trying to find your hidden plantation. (...and find it!)
Porzellan Syndrom - Our ode to the resistance in the 2. WW, but also encouragement to withstand now and always. The song is taken from the “Edelweißpiraten” songs and reinterpretated. Basically is it mocking the army as a club of idiots.
Pint Peddla - A turbonegro like song about riding a bike, be it drunk, fast, fixed, a BMX in the dirt, doing trix or just taking the piss out of a lycra looser in our denims.
Lääve - Live your life as if it was the last day. A little bit lower the beat here, as you need to get to the end of the day ;)).
Yupp - A song about yuppies or friends turned yuppies and they want to close the clubs and open kindergartens or so.

Alan – I ask everyone, I will ask you too. Our zine is mainly read by Czechs and Slovaks, so do you know these two countries? And do you know any bands from these two countries?
Ben - I am more familiar with Czech than Slovakia, as I personally have many friends in Neugersdorf-Ebersbach and my friend always tells me from his beer and punk trips across the border. Lars actually mentioned a sour-beer and hardcor/grindcore fest!!! That would be a dream to get there some day. In Ebersbach they always have Czech craft beer at their concerts. Yummy yum. Last year I played there with a breakcore project and that was really fun. The two Czech bands that I remember were great, but sorry I have forgotten the names, just remember the guitarist having the whole NYHC history tattooed on his arm…
Alan – What are you preparing for the album for 2026? A video? A tour of Europe? A trip to Brazil?
Ben - All of that haha, no we have a few new songs already and think we will be releasing a 7” next, maybe with Scene Police and Engineer again. We have been talking about a video, but somehow have not managed that, so we will take it as inspiration and say yes, we will make a video. At the moment we are planning weekends away during 2026 and maybe a small tour around Easter or in autumn. Please if anybody wants to see us in Czech or Slovakia, please contact us. We will do our best.
Alan – What / who / which band does each of you like? Or an artist. For example, Karel Gott?
Ben - Chrissie is inspired by Motorhead and Judas Priest, added with a Sick of it all and Hammerhead. Ben likes Venetian Smears and Peaches accompanied by Capitalist Casualties and Evan Dorkin Max indulges in Poison Idea, La Fraction and The Opressed. Fav Artist: Joseph Beuys Turbine is heavily in love with Hüsker Dü, Les Savy Fav & Mineral. Artists: Yayoi Kusama & René Magritte. Alex mixes Slapshot with Massive Attack and loves chrome and black street bombing.
Alan – Which club do you remember most fondly and why?
Ben - The Box in Davos, soooo friendly people and Hommek is a gokd mate who always delivers a great stay.

Alan – Similar question. A festival that you remember fondly, and why?
Ben - We have only played one Festival so far and that was 35 Years AJZ Bahndamm in Wermelskirchen and that was great.
Alan – In your short time together, who have you played with that is interesting to you?
Ben - Hammerhead, Gang Green, Wonk Unit, Jodie Faster, Syff, Violent Times, Grüze Pack, Gischt, La Casa Fantom, Luvdump.
Alan – Who would you like to play with? And you can each speak for yourself. I don't know, for example, with Mad Sin?
Ben - We are happy to play with anyone, that has the right attitude, so special whishes.
Alan – Before Gebretter was formed, were you in other bands? And was it always just punk? Didn't you play country, for example?
Ben - Chrissie has played in several Bands before, all Punk, HC, Metal or Indie. Max has also played in several Cologne HC bands. Bine has played in bands too, so a little more Emo, but mainly HC stuff and loves to dj party music (80s,90, a d pop punk) Ben has played in a few punk bands, has sung Raggasuffin (Raggamuffin but in cologne dialect and about drinking), has had breakcore projects, reggae and rap stuff, too. Alex has played in a raggamuffin band, other HC bands, several Trip-Hop projects and other musical projects of various kinds.

Alan – What would you like to say to our readers? For example, to come to your concert in Cham, in the LA Cham club?
Ben - We want to play as much as we can, so if you have a space somewhere please drop us a line and we will deliver a fun show. Thanks for reading this, if you like it support us on Socials, Bandcamp or whereever you want.
Alan – Thanks for the interview. We'll see each other at a concert or festival soon.
Ben - Thank you Alan, great chatting and lookig forward to meeting you soon.
