Interview with Bettman

Making music means staying young at heart, accepting new challenges, and being happy! This is about the rock band Bettman, which we will discuss a bit.
Alan – Hello band, how are you doing?
Gerry Bettman – After 3 operations last year we looking forward and play live again.

Alan – You are a band of 4 seasoned musicians. Could you list who played in what before you got together?
Gerry Bettman – I sang and played Guitar in few Bands like Shot Gun, Allzeit Bereit, Aderlass, The Roots of Rock Band (this was a Coverband), Joey Albrecht sang and plays Guitar with Karthago, Veronika Fischer, Chris Norman, Pete „Wyoming“ Bender, Spooky Tooth and The Roots of Rock Band, Michael Frank, the Drummer plays in few Jazz Bands, Floe (german pop) and our Bassplayer played  a lot of Sessionbands.

Alan – How did you meet? How did you put this group together?
Gerry Bettman – Yaers ago i work with Joey`s diverent Bands as Soundtechnichian so we become friends… later we start playing together in The Roots of Rock Band, after i split the Band we dicide to form the Bettman Band with own Songs… another friend gave me the contact to Michael and Joey met Frank in a Session, so the Band was born.

Alan – You currently have two mini-albums out. What are your plans for 2025? Another mini album? A video clip? I looked at the concert dates, so far only in Germany?
Gerry Bettman – Plan is playing live everywhere we can, working new Songs out and be happy.

Alan – Let's go back a bit. Some of you played in relatively well-known bands. Did you also play in the former Czechoslovakia? With which band and where? How do you remember it?
Gerry Bettman – Me not… after wall came down i was in Prag with Feeling B and Freygang as Soundtechnician.

Alan – Do you know – or remember any bands or artists from Czechoslovakia? Possibly from the present? From Bohemia and Slovakia?
Gerry Bettman – Sorry no, not realy…

Alan – While traveling around the world. What impressed whom the most? When did you play?
Gerry Bettman – I played with my Bands mainly in Germany but as Soundtech i was in whole Europe and USA.

Alan – Any funny experiences from your travels?
Gerry Bettman – I had a lot nice experiences… but i can`t tell it.

Alan – From traveling around the world. Food/drink. Again, what was the most interesting thing you tasted or drank? Monkey brains in India? Snake blood in Japan?
Gerry Bettman – No nothing of that… i had nice Food and Whiskys.

Alan – You could say that you are an elderly gentlemen who still enjoy life and music. What do you plan to do with Bettman in the future?
Gerry Bettman – For shure… with the Band we compose new Songs and we making another record also we wanna play Live …that makes us happy!

Alan – During your musical life. What do you consider to be the peak (the peak/the end) of your career? And why?
Gerry Bettman – The last peak was 1. place in a Bandcontest `24   …the end is maybe i will die on stage.

Alan – Thanks for the interview, and maybe we'll see each other in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, or Bavaria sometime.
