Interview group Temtris
Temtris was formed in 2002 by Anthony Fox and Genevieve Rodda, inspired by the powerful vocals, catchy riffs, and energetic rhythm sections of traditional heavy metal and power metal. The interview occurred before the European tour, where they also stopped in the Czech Republic.
Alan – Hello antipodes. Please tell us more about the band Temtris.
Temtris – Halo all.
Alan – When and where were you formed? Who was at its beginning, and who remained until the current form of Temtris?
Genevieve - Temtris was formed in Sydney, Australia. The original members were Anthony Fox, Genevieve Rodda, LewSmith , Wayne Campbell and Aaron warboys. The only original memebers are myself and Anthony Fox.
Alan – So who is the current lineup? Who's new? And what groups did they come to Temtris from?
Genevieve - The Current lineup is Genevieve Rodda Vocals. Anthony Fox, Lead guitar. Nadi Narouzian, Lead Guitar (previously in Black Reign ) Nicholas Bolin, Drums ( previously played in the Sydney, Metallica cover show Vane Danov, Bass guitar. (Previously played in the Sydney, AC DC cover show )
Alan - How many albums do you have to your credit? Rumor has it that you will have a new album out soon. How are you doing?
Genevieve - Temtris has released 7 studio albums, plus we recently released our Best of album “Rewinding Time” We are currently finalising the 8th Temtris album and will start recording this when we return from our European tour in October.
Alan – You are quite a well-known group in Australia. How are you doing with Europe? And outside of Europe (USA, Canada, Japan, etc...(?)
Genevieve - We are well known in our metal circle in Australia. Our last two album have had Japanese pressings so we have a good following in Japan also. We have had solid radio play in the usa for many years and I recently sang on a Canadians bands album called Wreck-defy. This will help build our name there also. Europe is a huge market for us and its growing our name. This is why we keep coming back to play there.

Alan – You've done a couple of Metal Church co-bands. How many times? How did you come to collaborate? And where did you play with them?
Genevieve - We have played two shows with Metal Church, First one was just before covid hit. This was in Sydney when they had Mike Howe on Vocals. It was a sold out show ! The second show was also in Sydney this time with Marc on vocals. We became good friends with Stett especially after the first show.
Alan - Any insights on playing with Metal Church? What about funny experiences with Metal Church? After all, it is a large group attended by many people.
Genevieve - They are an amazing bunch of muscians and actually, Stett Howland personally messaged me to request us on their whole tour but things did not work out sadly as management had organised other options.
Alan – We'll skip Metal Church, you've also played with other big bands. Which ones are they and where did you play them?
Genevieve - We have had a lot of amazing opportunities playing with some huge bands. Our first major support show was with Accept in Sydney. We've recently played with Unleash the Archers and Riot City in Canberra. When we returned from Europe in 2023 we played the Largerstien festival with The Halo Effect, Beyond The Black.. We have also shared the stage with Loudness, Girlschool, Raven,Queensryche and Michael Sweet from Styper.
Alan – In September you are going on a concert line (tour) in Europe. Where can we see Temtris? Who arranges this tour for you? And with what bands and where do you play? For our readers from the Czech republic and Slovakia, the most relevant countries are probably the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and Germany.
Genevieve - Temtris starts touring in September. We will play the Black haze Rock bar in Germany on the 20th Sept with Execution. PMK in Innsbruck, Austria with Sarcasm Syndrome and Tystnaden on the 21st Sept. Hospoda Brouk in Prague with Honoris Causa on the 26th September. S8 club in Budapest on the 27th September with Rebel.
Alan – This tour is not your first tour of Europe. How many times have you been to Europe? what are your observations from previous tours? Any funny experiences from these tours?
Anthony Fox - We were disappointed when COVID prevented us from bringing the Ritual Warfare tour to Europe, which was going to be our first time. So we were determined to make it over for the Khaos Divine tour in 2023. It was our first time in Europe and we had an absolute blast. We were so excited to be playing in new venues in front of new crowds, the support bands that joined the shows were great and we found the venues to be very supportive and welcoming, although offering Australians an open bar every night is a bit dangerous, haha, we had to be very disciplined! Myself and Nadi in particular as we were responsible for driving from one city to the next. I had a great time driving on the autobahns and driving on the opposite side of the road (Australians drive on the left) was very interesting. Nadi and Genevieve are constant jokers on the road and we were all keeping travel diary videos. Nadi was trying local foods so he and I were going into stores in France and I was using my very basic knowledge of the French language to try and order snails. At first I thought my French was REALLY bad because the reactions of the storekeepers were like I had said something really strange! It turned out that my French was OK, they were just really surprised by our request. Everywhere we went people were really friendly and the fans that came out to the shows were just amazing. We finished our first tour knowing that we just had to return.
Alan - I'm going to ask a non-music question. How far do you know our regions? Czech Republic and Slovakia? Any insight into these two countries from your point of view?
Anthony Fox - I don’t know anything about the Czech Republic or Slovenia. I am very excited to be coming with Temtris to places where I can learn and experience so many new things and meet fans of our music in a different part of the world.
Alan – We will still stick to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, possibly also Hungary. Do you know any groups from these countries? And what do you say about them?
Nicholas - I have been to Czechia numerous times. Masters of Rock is one of the greatest festivals in Europe,I think. As for bands? I’m not too familiar with Slovakia or Hungary. Maybe Tormentor and Ektomorf? My favourite Czech band has to be Citron.. Especially the song “Urugan”. That rules! I do like Hanz’s Fuckers, too. Especially “Nachtenej”and Master’s Hammer are a classic band..Metal na cely zivot! Uvidime se brzy! Na zdravi!!!

Alan – Back to the tour. What do you expect from it? And what new stuff do you bring to your fans?
Vane - We expect to meet some new fans and see some great bands. We have a new cd out, it’s called Rewinding Time, it’s a best of cd. From the first album Threshold to latest album, Khaos Divine with all all the best hits. We have new merchandise for this Tour also and we can’t wait to play in front of the metal heads and see there faces react to the metal from down under.
Alan – Where was the best place for you to play and why? Both in Australia and around the world. Take only the top experiences for you. You don't have to write everything down.
Nadi - I have played in a few places where I had the best time and they are memorable for me. Within Australia, we supported quite a few international bands during the past year. The one show that was a good memory for me was the Metal Church support we did in Sydney. We played in a venue called Crow Bar. It has a good sized room with a great stage and lighting. We opened the show and rhe room was pretty packed. The audience vibe was amazing. It was quite obvious that everybody was enjoying our performance. We had one of our best performances too. It was just amazing. Outside Australia, again there were quite a few venues that I personally liked playing in. The most memorable one is obviously The Carts And Horses in UK which is the birth place of Iron Maiden. The vibe was great. The fact that we are playing somewhere where Iron Maiden started, felt like nothing else. I actually teared up when we entered the venue. The show was great. Again one of our best performances. The audience was cheery and you could tell they liked us a lot.
Alan – We looking forward to see the performance in the Czech Republic and Hungary. We will bring a report from the tour to our readers, so they won't miss anything, and we won't forget to do another interview soon dedicated to the new album. Thanks. Pleasure to meet you guys.
Temtris - thanks you for your time and we look forward to meeting you at show soon !
