Insomnium/Omnium Gatherum/Hinayana

Insomnium/Omnium Gatherum/Hinayana

Hinayana
I came to the show curious about this band, as I noticed that they already toured with Insomnium in the past, indeed their show didn’t disappoint in the most minimum.
This Austin, TX based outfit that had forged their very own melodeathdistinctive sound by taking a page from the original recipe, but by adapting a some sort of Texan aggressivity and rawness, their unusual mix works to perfection, just by listening songs like; Cold Conception, Spirit and Matter and Reverse The Code and looking at the crowd reaction will definitelyshow this guys are doing things right.
Their sound and stage presence is super tight and their energy was just the right formula for a night flowing with melodic death metal goodness.

Omnium Gatherum
12 years after the released of Beyond, Omnium Gatherum decides to pay homage to this fantastic release by dedicating a full set to the album from beginning to end on a tour like this. It was a great opportunity to listen many songs from this album that often are not in the setlist rotation of the band.
For many some of these songs were a first-time live experience for others it was a reminiscence of the tour they did to promote this album (USA 2014)
Besides songs like New Dynamic or White Palace the rest rendition of the album was just on point (Nightwalkers, the Sonic Sign and The Unknowing)
One of the things that always is fun and impressive to experience at anOmnium Gatherum show is watching Markus Valhalla on a different role and how his guitar sound flows in a different way from his work in Insomnium or any of his many projects, even though it’s a Melodeathsounds it’s a thrilled heavier and more faster approach which is one seeing them live is so satisfying.

Insomnium
Another dedicated set, this time for one of the most well-known records of this Finnish Melodic Death Metal pioneers. Shadows of The Dying Sun, an album that was the introduction to Insomnium to many of us, a record that managed to put the band on a path that ended up unifying and forging the band’s current sound.
Listening to songs like Lose to Night (a Czech first-time performance), Collapsing Words and The Primeval Dark were the highlight of the show. Not only we got treated to listen to the full album, but also, we got Ville Friman back playing live, as we all know he doesn’t play live shows often with them. So that was a great and very welcome surprises for many of us. Besides the dedicated set list, the whole stage theme was dedicated to Shadows of The Dying Sun, and even there was merch dedicated to the album that it didn’t appear when the original cycle of this record was available in 2014.

To say this tour and this night was amazing is putting it short to what the atmosphere of this show really was.
Each band delivered a different brand of Melodic Death Metal, it was a celebration of the genre and a display of talent and feelings that only this bands are able to deliver. We hope to see more of these two Finnish bands and their Texas based counterpart.
