ILL GEARED is a metal band from Helsinki - Finland.
ILL GEARED combines influences from groove and trash metal to doom and beyond.
The music includes variety of aggressive vocal styles, and bit of old school grip.
The band was formed by Tatu Virta in 2023, when he started to look for members to metal band in local music forum.
The idea came after Tatu's previous alternative rock band broke up, and he felt the need to go back to the roots and play something more aggressive again.
Cem Karakas was found as a vocalist and bass guitarist.
Drums where first played by Mikko Järvinen, known by Tatu from previous bands. He had to step away after few months due to time issues and Jani-Petteri Polo was then found to play the drums later in 2023.
All members contribute to the bands sound, and for instance Cem is bringing old school death metal influences with growling vocals, and Jani-Petteri adds with more modern metal drumming touches. All music is mostly arranged and composed together.
When the band was formed, it was agreed between the members not to sit one marginal genre locker, but to explore & mix variety of (metal) styles, while still keeping an original touch and Ill Geared sound.
Ill Geared has made two releases: Hands to Heal - Demo in February 2024, and Ill Beginnings EP in February 2025.
More material is being composed constantly and next material are planned to be released towards end of 2025.
First shows were played during 2024 and 2025 more concerts are booked and the band is constantly in the lookup to book more events.
The band enjoys playing live and that being one of the reasons behind establishing the band: to play own music live.
Ill Geared is currently unassigned and looking for a possible record label to work with.
