GLOBAL SCUM once again defies all evils of the modern world with their sophomore album. Mastermind Manuel Harlander holds up the mirror to the world and its grievances and doesn’t spare human monsters like Josef Fritzl, who kept his daughter imprisoned in his own cellar for 24 years. Likewise, the brutal and tough Groove Metal masterpiece “Odium” is directed against the scourge of corruption. The 13 songs are the logical continuatio n of the debut “Hell Is Home” from 2017, which was very well received by the international Metal scene. You can get in the mood with the lyric video produced by YOD Multimedia (Kingbéast, Stonecast, Dischord) for the song “Feared” which is already causing a stir on YouTube. The Austrian musician and vocalist Manuel Harlander gained experience as a guitarist and frontman in various projects at an early stage. These finally culminated in the desire to give space to his creativity and the creation of his s olo project GLOBAL SCUM. Harlander growls like mad, plays all the instruments himself and is also responsible for the recording and mixing. Only at the mastering, he granted Christian Schmid (Suicidal Angels, Mystic Prophecy, FireForce) with his profession al experience from Music Factory Studio access to the production process of “Odium”. He does not submit to the Zeitgeist and strictly rejects the medium social media. With GLOBAL SCUM there are no compromises, the foot is put down on the grievances of the world and the knife is turning in the sore wound with socially critical lyrics. Moon Ring Design is responsible for the forceful, martial “Odium” artwork with the bloodstained woman wearing a gas mask in front of bombed ruins. The agency has already put al bums of bands such as Master, Incubus or Martyrium in the right perspective. Songs like “Feared”, which turns against corruption, or “Disgusting Lust Of Madness”, which deals with sick and perverted minds of the modern age, including the above - mentioned Jo sef Fritzl, reflect the intensity of the album and the anger of the musician. “Fake As Fuck”, in turn, shows the fake reality and its protagonists the middle finger. With “Violent Creation”, GLOBAL SCUM is tackling the parasitic global terrorism. “Assassin s”, which will be released on the 14th of June as a single along with a lyric video in advance, continues with this theme and demonizes the existence and futility of suicide assassins. That his sound also works well with German lyrics is proven by the thra shy angry song “Martyrium”. On “Odium” Manuel Harlander literally spits out his anger about the contemporary state. Only the instrumental “Savage Killer” gives the listener a short breather before “Mental Anxiety” concludes with another musical and verbal fist law. The new GLOBAL SCUM album offers with its hard Groove Metal songs the fitting soundtrack to the daily media and social apocalypse. “Odium” will bring some new fans for the one - man project this summer.
